So Greg came up with the idea of going to Savannah, Ga for our vacation because of its historical district and its rowdy waterfront area. I agree, it sounds like a great place to stay and get away from it all, plus its only a 4 hour drive away. Greg’s dad mentioned Bed and Breakfasts, and that would make the stay even *better*!
Right now, its all about finding a B&B that is affordable, comfortable and has wireless.. Can’t get away from the Wow.. lol.
There are quite a few, even some old hotels that have been refurbished to be B&B’s now. So its quite a job to find one in the location that we want and in the price range we want. I think I found one though - right on the waterfront, and haunted too!
Plus, they have dinner cruises, art galleries, and tours. And on our way back, we can stop at Valdosta’s Wild Adventures park for some extra “thrill.”
Its only four days, but it looks like its going to be fun, so far.

So, this morning, in my haste to get to work, I didn’t have time to eat breakfast. My options on campus are small, and my options on my way to campus (what’s open at 7am anyway) aren’t much wider either. Before when I could go to work at 11ish, I would stop and get Pita Pit - but alas, they don’t open until 11. So my options were pretty much Steak and Shake or Burger King. Not wanting to completely ruin my diet for the day, I chose something I thought was the lesser of the evils I could choose. I got french toast and orange juice meal. That comes with hashbrowns too. (I chose that because it seemed better than a greasy microwaved meat thing and fake eggs on an even greasier croissant) So, I eat my hashbrowns, swallow my OJ, and eat one french toast stick. Now I feel like I’m gonna explode. O_o
One thing about dieting and eating well, you rid your body of all the nasty stuff that’s in food like this. And all of a sudden here’s a huge dose of the stuff. I feel like I ate an elephant O_o…
So I actually tried to get rid of it - seriously, it was making me sick. Now I have a nice bowl of miso soup (which was supposed to be lunch, but I have a huge package of the stuff and its cheap, good, and healthy) I think now, if I don’t have time to eat, I’ll just have a few bowls of soup.. or tea or something. Feels so much better than eating elephants.

One of the perks of living in Orlando, is that you get to see this on a semi-regular basis:

The pictures of it didn’t come out well enough, but you could even see the SRB’s drop off about 2 minutes into the launch. AWESOME.

I’ve been doing the diet outlined here for 2 weeks. I’ve seen absolutely no change in my weight at all. Actually, I’ve gained 3 pounds, which is really discouraging. I’m running at the gym every other day, I’m walking or biking the off days. I’ve even started lifting weights (lightly) too. There’s no way I’ve gained muscle exactly at the same rate I’m losing fat (if I’m losing fat). I was expecting my pants to be falling off me by now.
So I’m changing my plan to this. Today is a down day, and I can tell already its going to hurt, alot. 20% of my normal caloric intake is about 400 calories. That’s going to be hard to do, even with the protein stuff I bought yesterday (which tastes terrible - I’m hoping some splenda will rectify that). But yeah, I ate about 1.5 hours ago and I’m already feeling my stomach going “Hey! Eat.”
Granted, I haven’t been rigorous on the “slow-carb” diet, probably eating too many veggies. But I still should’ve seen *SOME* results. But every time I weighed myself at the gym I was exactly where I started or higher. Grah. And Greg has lost 11 POUNDS these past 2 weeks. And my mom has lost who knows how many pounds these last few months. Why can’t I share in that, too?
